01Larry Ellison's margin problem surfaced by accident. A Rule 10b5-1 plan permitting the sale of up to 50 million Oracle shares — about $7.5B — was disclosed 11 Sep and cancelled 12 Sep, on a Saturday. No shares sold. The detail that matters is not the sale: roughly 277–346M of his shares are pledged as collateral against personal loans, and Oracle is down about 64% from its September 2025 peak. Cancelling a sale plan does not unwind that.
