BofA Private Bank's June study found business inheritance as a wealth source jumped from 5% in 2022 to a projected 23% in 2026, while businesses purchased fell from 28% to 11%. Fewer people are buying their way into ownership; more are being handed it. Separately, only 35% of family offices have a succession plan and 55% of heirs intend to fire the parent's adviser.
